summer in london #2
I'm in love with the summertime! It won't last long but I'm enjoying every minute of it. And this is today's best summer song:

summer in london #1
Summer has arrived in London and yesterday we headed to the park for a picnic with friends. It's funny to see how the south europeans run for shadows claiming "it's too hot" and north europeans endure the hot sun (while their skin becomes red and red) with a big smile... Hope you're enjoying some beautiful days too, wherever you are!

we love fim
i don't really remember how I got to them... but i liked the vibe from the beginning.
we love film is a geek's place and it's such a good thing. it's a place for the film lovers. carlos and andré tour the e-bays of this world and find good deals on expired (and non-expired) film. the massive buy makes the films way cheaper and to make the whole process sustainable they share their buys with really good prices.
it's such a nice little project. last year in christmas i bought a couple of films and
they were quick, efective and so nice! i remember sending an e-mail late at night that carlos replied immediately and the next afternoon i was in front of the beaux-arts school collecting my films - i remember him telling me "you can pay whenever you want!" how nice is that? i remember thinking, this kid doesn't exist! he had never seen me before! i believe now things are a bit different because the project has grown a lot and with popularity it needed some adjustments (like pre-pay). they sell pretty much only in portugal so if you live around and you love film, i highly recommend!
they seem to be very creative and full of ideas for the project. the first achievement was a curated photography exhibition (all analog, of course) "estas fotografias merecem paredes" , something like "these photographs deserve walls". i really hope it's another step to great sucesses!
it ends tomorrow in lisbon, if you are curious (and speak portuguese) check this post and this post.
this was the teaser video they made:

my rules for life #1
there will always be people that seem to do it harder, better, faster, stronger (yes, i wanted to sound like the daft punk song) but no one does it like you do.

and today is a sad day: a really good amazing person died and i'm sad. thank you miguel for your work.

so fun to be a tourist!
the japanese bath
on days like this i just wish i could walk down the street and enter my local sentô. my shoulders are aching of too much seating and too much computer writing in non-ergonomic chairs... i imagine my body and all my stress melting away in the burning waters of a japanese bath.

paris
started here with this view! our friends picked us up from the train station and took us up to the sacré coeurs footsteps to enjoy the sunset. they had brought some fresh beer and we stood there in amazement. the 30000 other tourists, the guy singing U2 and the insisting beer sellers couldn't do anything to spoil this magic moment. we were in paris.

be grateful
I am once again under a huge pile of work, courseworks and exams and all that jazz. I’ve been through the good moments when everything looked like it was going to unfold gracefully and I have been down in the miserable point where I feel stupid, exhausted and that there was no end for my misery.
Today I decided to stop. Instead of complaining I decided to be grateful. Yes, grateful for work, grateful for challenges, grateful for being able to be here now. How many times will I have this opportunity to be in London studying something new? It feels a bit zen and that’s because it is!
It’s useless to keep daydreaming of perfect days, perfect moments because it’s all in our head, we choose to accept each moment has bad or good. So I’m going for good. Of course I would’ve prefered to have spent this day on a park or just reading a nice book and not be stuck in front of a computer but there are surely worse things and like everything else, nothing lasts forever. I have still a lot in front of me, at least a whole month of hard work but I mean to be mindfull of every step and enjoy this period. Send me your good vibes!
And because it has just fell on my lap and it's great : this music for you.

cosmonaut day
a totally random post.
i just realized that last thursday, april 12th was "cosmonaut day" a russian celebration of the men and women who braved into space. i love the word cosmonaut much more than astronaut.
my mind went back to a little city in mongolia where i stopped last year, where a statue of the first mongolian cosmonaut (and second asian in space), Jügderdemidiin Gürragchaa was erected.

robert doisneau
happy birthday mr. doisneau!
we endured a one hour waiting line to see doisneau's exhibition about "les halles" (see a bit more about le halles here). it was so crowded it was hard to truly appreciate his pictures but i loved it anyway.
and totally by chance i was able to catch a kiss while waiting for our turn to enter! a very (let's say VERY) humble hommage to doisneau's world famous image.
