esta manhã enquanto arrumava a minha *muito* desarrumada secretária encontrei um envelope da suécia e lembrei-me que ainda não tinha mostrado aqui as coisas bonitas que a sandra juto me enviou da suécia. há uns meses atrás ela organizou uma troca: em troca do nosso chá preferido ela enviaria algumas fotografias. achei graça à ideia e escrevi-lhe. fiz um pacote em origami e enchi com folhas recém secas de lúcia-lima, o meu chá preferido, que a minha mãe cultiva no seu jardim. em troca recebi estas lindas imagens, um cartão e uma amostra de crochet, um dos já famosos "granny squares" que a sandra faz. hoje emoldurei a minha imagem preferida! takk sandra!



this morning when i was tidding my *very* messy desk i found an envelope from sweden and i remembered that i didn't show here the beautiful things sandra juto sent me from sweden. a couple of months ago she started a swap: she would send some pictures in exchange for some tea. i thought it would be fun so i wrote her. i made a nice origami package and filled it with fresh dried leaves of lemon verbena, my absolutely favourite tea, that my mum grows in her garden. i the received these beautiful pictures, a card, and a crochet sample of the famous granny squares sandra makes. today i framed my favourite. takk sandra!

mirrorcities - visita guiada

Esta sexta-feira, dia 23 de Outubro a partir das 18:30, irá realizar-se uma visita guiada à exposição ///mirrorcities/// por uma das autoras, Sara Lopes Godinho (autora das imagens de Tóquio).

Todas as sextas-feiras o Museu do Oriente fica aberto até mais tarde (22h) e a entrada é gratuita.

A exposição ///mirrorcities/// continuará a poder ser visitada até dia 1 de Novembro (de terça a domingo 10h-18h).

Lamento a repetição do tema neste blog mas queria mostrar-vos os livros e os calendários do projecto mirrorcities embrulhados. Foi algo muito simples mas gostei do resultado, foi só juntar uns jornais japoneses que sobravam aqui por casa, fiz umas etiquetas no photoshop com imagens de uns carimbos com motivos japoneses, caracteres e muitos "obrigados" e voilá! Os calendários são embrulhados nuns envelopes craft e embelezados com as mesmas etiquetas. o que é que vocês acham?

i'm sorry for the theme repetition on this blog but i wanted to show you the books and calendars of the mirrorcities project wrapped for gift. i made something very simple but i like the result, i wrapped them in some japanese newspaper and made the labels in photoshop using the japanese motifs of some stamps i have, some japanese and lots of "thank you" and voilá! the calendars are wrapped in craft envelopes and embelished with the same labels. what do you think?

já lá está! há cerca de uma semana foi inaugurada a exposição do mirrorcities no museu do oriente. estou feliz, estou orgulhosa, estou exausta. se puderem passem por lá!

vai estar no espaço lounge, ao lado da loja, até dia 1 de novembro e pode ser visitada entre as 10 e as 18 (excepto às terças, dia de encerramento do museu). a entrada é gratuita.

done! about a week ago the mirrorcities exhibition opened at the oriente museum. i'm so happy, i'm so proud, i'm so exhausted. if you can, please stop by.

it'll be opened until the 1st of november, in the lounge next to the shop, everyday from 10 to 18 (except tuesdays, the museum closing day). the entrance is free.

estou muito feliz por termos conseguido concretizar a nossa ideia, montado a exposição, feito um livro e um calendário para 2010 apesar da total inexperiência!
e como tudo teria sido impossível sem a internet! sem o blogger, sem o google, sem a web 2.0 e sem todos vocês que estão desse lado em frente ao vosso computador e que nos incentivaram, apoiaram, divulgaram!

um agradecimento especial a todos os que nos ajudaram a escolher as imagens para expôr (difícil, tão difícil!) e também ao mário venda nova, ao pedro duarte bento, à mariana sabido pela ajuda e dicas para a impressão das imagens e finalmente à ana ventura pelo empurrão generoso e certeiro até ao apoio do centro português de serigrafia. fiquei muito sensibilizada pela generosidade e disponibilidade de todos que contactámos o que me faz pensar como são espantosos estes tempos que vivemos com todos estes recursos e modos de interacção novos! bem sei que também são usados para muitas coisas más, mas agora vamos só focarmo-nos nas boas. obrigada de novo e se puderem passem pela exposição e enviem-nos o vosso feedback! arigatou!

i'm so happy we were able to make our idea come alive, made the exhibition, a book and a 2010 calendar despite our total lack of experience!

and all of it would have been impossible without the internet! without blogger, without google, without this web 2.0, without all of you on that side in front of your computer who gave us support!

a special thank you to all of you who helped us select the images for the exhibition (oh so difficult!) and also to mário venda nova, pedro duarte bento, mariana sabido for the help and tips on image printing and finally to ana ventura for the crucial push to the support of the centro português de serigrafia. i felt deeply touched by the generosity of all the people we contacted which made me think how amazing these times we're living now are with all this new resources and ways of interaction! i know that can also be used for bad things but let's just focus on the good ones for now! thanks a lot and if you happen to go to the exhibition send us your feedback! arigatou!

apesar do trabalho exaustivo, de ver e rever e rever até à exaustão as mesmas imagens volta e meia uma parece-me como nova. há 10 mn voltei a apaixonar-me por esta imagem da colecção do mirrrorcities. as folhas de lisboa parecem douradas, parece outonal mas a luz é mais forte. as árvores de tóquio são melancólicas... ou talvez porque me lembro deste passeio solitário com vista para o monte fuji e um silêncio imenso, uma fuga ao bulício de tóquio.

a exposição está quase aí. e já está anunciada no site do museu do oriente! que frio na barriga!

even with all the hard work of going through the same images over and over again sometimes one pops up as something new. 10 minutes ago i fell in love again with this image of the mirrorcities collection. lisbon leaves are golden, seems almost autumn but the light is stronger. tokyo trees seem so melancholic... but that's maybe because i remember this lonely walk with a view to mount fuji and an immense silence, an escape from busy tokyo.

the exhibition is coming soon. and is already mentioned in the museu do oriente website! i'm so nervous!

stress and frustration

i've been feeling very stressed lately. headaches are back and this heavy weather doesn´t help. working hours never seem to end and after work i have so much to do! mirrorcities exhibition is coming *really* close and there is still so many things to prepare.
i feel a bit lost, we're being quite ambitious here and i'm so scared everything collapses... and i'll make a fool of myself.
an amazing good friend might be needing me and i can't find the time to help. maybe i wouldn't be of any help but i feel guilty. we're having two canadians for couchsurfing this weekend and i feel guilty i'm not spending so much time with them. i feel bad i can't post the things that i've intended. i'm having so many new ideas but i don't think i'll *ever* be able to make them leave my head. i don't have time to visit my beloved grandmother (she lives in another city) meet my parents or most of my friends, by the way...

i spend most of the day doing things i don't think they're important and i just think this year will go away like last year, half wasted...

there are soooo many texts on the web about slowing down and time control and i've read them all but i can't seem to put them in practice. it's so frustrating.

my new year's resolution was to take in easy on myself but it seems i just can't. i demand too much but i would feel empty if i didn't get involved in so many things...

and the i get angry with myself because i have such an amazing life, i've been so incredibly lucky and blessed, so many good things have come in my direction, i keep telling myself "you know sara people have REAL problems so stop being absorved by your crappy stress!"

so i'll just shut up and give my best for the next couple of weeks and hope i calm down somehow.

(stupid as it may sound this text just came out in english, so i'm not even gonna bother to translate to portuguese - i just don't have the time - i'm sorry)

quer a divina providência que sempre que me aproximo do montijo, a radar ponha a tocar o novo single dos the editors, papillon, transformando-me numa condutora tunning capaz de competir com os melhores fiats puntos das redondezas. não consigo dizer que a música é boa (a voz dele e aquela batida fenomenal não sei se ligam lá muiot bem), mas que me faz carregar no acelerador, bater com os dedos no volante e rodopiar alegremente as infinitas rotundas da "circular do montijo", ai isso faz.

nota: este post foi patrocinado pelo wireless do mcdonalds do forum barreiro. tenho ou não tenho uma vida glamourosa? vou para corroios agora, pedro que música me vais dedicar? ou tenho que ligar a mix?

talented mother | proud daughter

Fui ontem finalmente ver uma das obras mais especiais da minha mãe, a Ermida de S. Sebastião em Almada! Aproveitanto a cerimónia da benção do altar fui ver o espaço finalmente concluído de uma jornada longa, difícil mas única e especial. E não podia estar mais orgulhosa! A igreja está tão bonita, tão bem recuperada, cheia de detalhes de uma sensibilidade incrível e tão confortável. É muito pequena (afinal é uma ermida, nem sequer igreja é) mas ontem estava apinhada de fiéis que vieram espreitar a nova obra e assistir à cerimónia. Foi bonito ver como quem sabia que ela era a autora a vinha cumprimentar e dar os parabéns. Pareciam verdadeiramente orgulhosos do seu novo espaço.



A minha mãe tem uma infinita paciência e um amor à profissão admirável. Tudo ali foi desenhado ao mais ínfimo pormenor. O respeito das senhoras que cuidam do espaço é tanto que não fazem nada sem consultar a minha mãe sobre a melhor disposição das estátuas, a melhor solução para qualquer coisa. Ela desenha tudo o que lhe pedem, esforça-se pela maior qualidade, pelos melhores orçamentos, sempre muito rigorosa e exigente com todos os que trabalham com ela e o resultado é fenomenal.
Não vai ser de certeza uma igreja consensual, é um bocado diferente das igrejas tradicionais, o espaço é minimalisma, muito limpo e luminoso. Alguns velhotes reclamavam que "não tinha pinturas" mas eu acho-a perfeita, linda e acolhedora.

Tem um sacrário líndissimo desenhado pelo escultor José Aurélio que se integra harmoniosamente no espaço.



Se quiserem ir vê-la a igreja fica muito perto da avenida principal de almada (av. dom nuno álvares pereira) entre a rua dos espatários e rua capitão leitão. Depois digam-me a vossa opinião!

[English resume] I'm a proud daughter! These are some images of the church my mother (also an architect) has reconstructed. It's a very small church and the result is beautiful. The atmosphere is very peaceful and confortable. My mother has owrked very hard and for a long time on this project and the results are amazing. It was beautiful to see everybody yeasterday congratulating her for the marvellous work. I hope you enjoy it too.

é assim que me sinto, a remar, a remar. sinto que a terra não está longe e que tenho de continuar a remar. estou frustrada comigo e com o tempo que passa a voar. não consigo fazer tudo o que quero e preciso! queria tanto mostrar-vos as fotos da viagem fenomenal que parece que nunca fiz tal tem sido a absorção do dia-a-dia mas não consigo, saltam tantas coisas à frente e depois o tempo (argh! o tempo!) esvoaça.

this is how i feel, rowing, rowing. i sense land is not far and i must keep rowing. i feel frustrated with myself and with the flying time. i'm not able to do everything i want and need! i wanted to show you the pictures from the amazing trip i did (even if it feels i've never left lisbon, i've been so absorbed in the dayly routine) but i just can't. things just seem to pop all the time and then time (argh! time!) just flies away.

escrito numa parede de viena: "os dias de hoje são os bons velhos tempos de amanhã". as férias terminaram. foram 25 dias fantásticos como há muito não vivia, todos os dias a criar muitos "bons velhos tempos" para amanhã. e consegui desligar de tal modo que ainda não acredito que amanhã estou de volta ao trabalho.
